Images from torn paper

The IN HOLLAND series consists of 50 images. The series was shown in New York, accompanied by music by Pierre Henry, at a presentation of the Dutch Haute Coiffure in 1980.

The clothing of the models consisted of simple white dresses appliquéd with Mondrian patterns. “Paper is fascinating because it responds directly. With little effort you can generate images that are difficult to accomplish with brush and paint.”

“Working with paper has always fascinated me. Newsprint paper is probably the most interesting as material. You can very easily generate pictures that have a lot of power in them.”

Several items were later published as silkscreen prints by Studio America in Leiden. One image was used as a clothing label, and another one as a logo for a local political party.
